Gellin og Borgstrøm

One day in late 1918, Ernst's father, Sigfred Borgstrøm, read and ad in the local newspaper:

The wellknown Herman Gellin from Stockholm, offers his assistance to Concerts.
Repertoire of 500 songs. Students accepted.

Numerous offers from all over Denmark resulted from this ad, and about the same time Ernst and his father showed up in his store. " I don't have any time to take on students" said Gellin, to which Sigfred answered: "My son is not here for lessons. He plays a 5 row chromatic accordion, and can play several Overtures". Gellin listened to a few selections that Ernst played, and was very impressed and proposed a partnership where they would split the profits 50-50.
Later the same day, Gellin called and said that he had arranged several concerts throughout Denmark, and their first one was the next night in the city of Aalborg. "But we haven't rehearsed yet" said Ernst --- to which Gellin answered: "Never mind, we will rehearse all night in the train".
And so started a partnership for 33 years, which would take them all over Europe several times.

En dag i slutningen af 1918 Ernsts far, Sigfred Borgstrøm, læste en annonce i den lokale avis:

Den velkendte Herman Gellin fra Stockholm og tilbyder sin assistance til koncerter.

Repertoire af 500 sange. Elever accepteret.

Talrige tilbud fra hele Danmark resulterede fra denne annonce, og omkring samme tidspunkt Ernst og hans far dukkede op i Gellins butik. "Jeg har ikke nogen tid til at tage elever" siger Gellin, og Sigfred svarede:

" Min søn er ikke her for lektioner.Han spiller en fem rækket kromatisk harmonika, og kan spille flere overtures". Gellin lyttede til et par valg, Ernst spillede, og var meget imponeret og foreslog et partnerskab, hvor de delte profitten 50-50.

Senere samme dag, ringede Gellin og sagde, at han havde arrangeret flere koncerter i hele Danmark, og den første var den næste nat i Aalborg. "Men vi har ikke øvet endnu", sagde Ernst --- og Gellin svarede: "Pyt, vi vil øve hele natten i toget."

Og så startede et partnerskab i 33 år, som ville tage dem over hele Europa flere gange.

Also appearing, the two accordion virtuosos, Gellin & Borgstrøm whose first appearance in the hall was an outstanding success. Their solo and ensemble numbers were quite excellent music, which won thunderous applause. This will be their last appearance in the hall as they from tomorrow are committed to Circus Variete.
